Busted home improvement myths
When updating your home, don’t fall for any of these home improvement myths:
- – There’s nothing behind the fridge. Regularly clean and vacuum behind your fridge to increase its efficiency.
- – Water heater tanks don’t require maintenance. Actually, your water heater should be drained once per year to prevent gunk buildup. You should also regularly check the tank for signs of corrosion or leaks.
- – Just paint over it. While some dings and scratches can easily be covered up, others may be a sign or mold or pest damage that paint can’t fix.
- – All flushable products are truly flushable. You should only flush human waste and toilet paper in toilets to prevent backups.
- – Go cheap. Inexpensive fixtures and products can save you money in the short term, but be mindful of what you choose. If you want your updates to last five, ten or even 20 years, it’s worth spending a little more up front to get home improvement products that last.
