Can I use my own contractor?

Perhaps you know a contractor or have a company in mind to make essential improvements to your home. If this is the case, you may be wondering, can I use my own contractor if I get home improvements through DURA?

DURA has a pool of qualified contractors who bid on jobs on a rotating basis. Your contractor can bid on the job; however, they will need to become qualified under our program and will need to submit proof of contractor license, insurance, worker’s compensation, and other items required by the program. If they meet all these requirements and are awarded the winning bid, their work progress will be closely monitored by the rehabilitation specialist, as is the work of all contractors.

Eligible contractors can apply at any time to be pre-qualified to bid on construction contracts during the current program year. DURA actively seeks to achieve MBE/WBE/SBE participation and solicit qualified contractors to participate in DURA’s housing rehabilitation programs.
