DURA welcomes Teresa Corral, new mayoral appointment, to board of commissioners

The Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) has welcomed Teresa Corral as the newest member of its 13-member board of commissioners. Corral was appointed to the DURA board by Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and brings extensive experience in the real estate development and finance industry.

Corral comes to DURA with more than 30 years of experience in various aspects of commercial real estate, including strategic planning, acquisition, development and portfolio management. Currently, she is a partner at Phelan Development Company where she is responsible for management, development and acquisitions for the company’s Salt Lake City and Las Vegas markets. Corral is one of Real Estate Forum’s Women of Influence, an award which recognizes women whose achievements have helped to shape and change the commercial real estate industry.

“We are thrilled that Teresa has accepted this appointment and feel confident that her seasoned background in development will contribute significantly to our organization and, more importantly, the communities we serve,” said Tracy Huggins, executive director of DURA.

Prior to her current role with Phelan Development, Corral oversaw the investment process for DCT Industrial where she served as executive vice president of investments and portfolio management. With over $10 billion in acquisition, development and disposition transactions during her 15-year tenure at DCT, she was instrumental in transforming the portfolio into a highly sought-after collection of infill assets. Ms. Corral was also a member of the company’s executive committee and investment committee and looks forward to bringing this experience to DURA and the residents and businesses of Denver.

“It is a privilege to serve on the DURA Board of Commissioners alongside so many accomplished and impressive advocates for the City and County of Denver. As we prepare for our City’s continued fast-growing future, it is my hope to contribute to making Denver a better, safer, more inclusive and vibrant place to live and work through thoughtful investment and redevelopment in our underserved neighborhoods and communities.”

Corral earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics from St. Mary’s College of California.
