DURA’s Emergency Home Repair (EHR) program helps low income Denver homeowners address problems that are an immediate danger to their health and safety. In partnership with the Denver Office of Economic Development, the EHR program offers zero percent interest, perpetually deferred loans of up to $10,000 – only due upon the sale or refinance of the home, or when the owner no longer occupies the home.
Eligible improvements include roofing, gutters, heating, electrical and plumbing. Other appliance replacements, such as a hot water heater or furnace, are also offered through the EHR program. DURA also provides free inspection for lead service lines and financial assistance to replace non-copper lines. “This is a service that is needed,” said Denver homeowner Myron. After the City of Denver did a sewer scope in his area, they found that he had a broken sewer line that connected to the main line that needed immediate repairs. “My daughter had cancer and our funds were depleted, so DURA stepped in at the right moment: when we needed the service the most.”
While most DURA housing programs remain on hold due to current health restrictions, we are still accepting applications. Learn more about our EHR program and apply at: https://renewdenver.org/housing-rehabilitation/emergency-home-repair/
