Stuck at home winter DIYs

While we’ve all been at home more than we would like, use some of this time to update your house. Here are a few tips:

  • – Declutter. Go through the junk drawer in your kitchen, sort through tools and supplies in your garage or organize clothing to keep, donate or toss.
  • – Update your kitchen. Change out handles on cabinets and drawers for a quick way to improve your kitchen’s appearance. Install a small chalkboard to help keep track of groceries you need on your next run, or to help with meal prep for the week.
  • – Add insulation. Insulation will help lower utility bills and make your home more comfortable during cold winter months. Seal up windows and doors with caulk or weatherstripping. Wrapping insulation around your water heater will help keep water warm longer — even when the heater isn’t being used.
  • – Spruce up your home’s interior. Something minor like a paint change can completely transform a room. Smaller updates such as changing up the art or décor hanging on walls, swapping out throw pillows and rearranging furniture can also freshen up a room.
  • – Clean your bathroom. Get a new shower curtain and deep clean and re-grout tiles that could have mildew buildup. Similar to kitchen updates, change out knobs and faucet fixtures for a new look. Replace lighting and mirrors and add new cabinets or other storage for towels and toiletries.
