“I joined DURA to help build a great city for all residents. I believe that thoughtful urban renewal encourages housing and job growth, preserves historical and cultural connections, and meets emerging community needs — all important priorities for Denver right now.”
Accustomed to leading large and small teams in complex stakeholder environments, Kristin brings with her a dynamic style of leadership. She serves as Executive Director for the Colorado Lawyers Committee, a nonpartisan group of 70 Colorado law firms dedicated to creating and increasing opportunities for children, low-income families, and other disadvantaged communities through pro bono legal work.
Prior to her current position, Kristin worked as City Attorney for the City and County of Denver and provided policy and legal advice to the Mayor, City Council, and other City agencies, departments, boards, and commissions. She also formed the Denver Immigrant Legal Services Fund in 2018, which is a special project fund at The Denver Foundation developed to increase access to legal services for Denver immigrant populations.
Kristin has received many awards for her work, including the Colorado Women’s Bar Association’s Raising the Bar Award, “Women Who Lead: Lawyers Who Raised the Bar Leading Through Crisis,” Law Week’s Woman Lawyer of the Year award and the City of Denver’s Youth Violence Prevention Champion. Aside from her work, she and her husband host “Saturday Morning Breakfast” every Saturday in her home, a childhood tradition started by her grandfather. Depending on the day, they may have just five for breakfast and sometimes as many as 15, and they consider it their sacred time to catch up, laugh, (sometimes) cry and share stories as a family.
